A Game for the Ages

As I mentioned on my last "Friday Five" post, I had tickets to the UNC/Duke game in Chapel Hill on Saturday. Boy, was it a memorable night! The game was no doubt a classic, with each team never leading more than six points until the very end. The atmosphere inside was electric, of course. At times, I couldn't even hear the referees' whistles. Not to mention I lost my voice from yelling so much. And, as if the night couldn't get any sweeter, Michael Jordan - aka the G.O.A.T. - was in the house! Despite some (very) questionable officiating and a ridiculous free throw advantage for Duke, the Heels topped the Blue Devils 90-83, adding icing to its ACC Regular Season Championship cake. By virtue of Louisville defeating Norte Dame earlier in the day, Carolina had already locked up the outright championship. But beating Duke is always great no matter the circumstances, especially since the Blue Devils were the preseason pick to win the conference.

I've been fortunate to be able to go to, now, three UNC/Duke games in Chapel Hill. My record? 2-1, thanks to Saturday's win! I brought along a friend this go 'round who had never experienced a UNC/Duke game until this one. Needless to say, we were both hyped up before, during and after the game! I was so stoked after the game that my head didn't even hit my pillow until 3:30 Sunday morning. It was one of the most nerve wracking, exciting, wonderful UNC/Duke games I've seen. Truly a game for the ages.
