1. Congrats, Lin-Manuel Miranda!
The brilliant Lin-Manuel Miranda is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Miranda is the creator of two hit, Tony Award Best Musicals - In the Heights and Hamilton - and continues to be a force in the industry, cowriting tunes for Disney's Moana and starring in the forthcoming Mary Poppins Returns. He'll add the Walk of Fame to an already stacked awards shelf that includes a Pulitzer Prize, an Emmy Award, two Grammy Awards and three Tony Awards, among other accolades.
In the Heights was the first Broadway musical I was fortunate enough to see. I attended the show at the Richard Rodgers Theater - the current home of Hamilton - in New York back in 2010. I became enamored with Broadway - and Lin's work - from that point on. It's truly incredible to see how Lin has impacted our culture and society. There's no doubt that he's deserving of a star!
2. You Never Know...
During the taping of Tuesday's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy took time to chat with the audience while Sheryl Crow and her band got ready to perform. Little did he know who'd be sitting in the audience. A man got Jimmy's attention and talked about his 92-year-old grandfather appearing on The Tonight Show a few times back in the Jack Paar/Johnny Carson days. It was none other than Bill Hayes, accomplished actor and musician, who stars in the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives. Jimmy brought Bill on stage for a mini interview and it was pretty awesome!

3. Giving It A Whirl
It came time for me to get a new pillow. I'm always up to try something new, so I did just that and decided to try Tuft & Needle. Online mattress companies have risen to the forefront of the industry in recent years and Tuft & Needle is one of the leading ones out there. The company was founded in 2012 by a pair of software engineers who were tired of the "lack of transparency and fairness in the mattress industry," per the company's bio. What I like about Tuft & Needle is all products are Made in the USA and the company backs them with a "100-Night Sleep Trial." Nothing to lose, right? So, I bought a pillow. I'm heading into night three tonight and it's been great so far. They say to give new bedding, such as mattresses and pillows, at least 30 nights for your body to adjust, so be on the lookout for a full review of the pillow right here on my blog soon!
The Durham Bulls are sending four players to the Triple-A All-Star Game. Willy Adames, Patrick Leonard, Mike Marjama and Andrew Kittredge will represent the Bull City in the 30th annual game on July 12 in Tacoma, Wash. All four have had stellar seasons so it's really no surprise that they were selected. Congrats, guys!
5. Happy Ann'y, iPhone!
10 years ago this week, the iPhone launched and forever changed our world. Whether you like Apple or not, you can't deny the sheer impact the iPhone has had (and continues to have) on society. iPhones started out as pretty small, limited devices but have expanded into an everyday necessity for many people - a pocket-sized computer, as Patrick Moorhead, Principal Analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy describes in an NBC News article. And, as rumors circulate about the arrival of Apple's latest iteration of its landmark device, I'm confident that the iPhone will continue to make an impact for years to come.
