My Friday Five: On July 4th "Outrage" & A Record Breaking Night

1. Outrage!

Some people were outraged at tweets from NPR, thinking that they were propaganda or inciting a revolution. What they got, in return, was a slice of humble pie.

According to CNN, the media organization has recited the Declaration of Independence on radio every July 4th for 30 years. This was the first time the tradition migrated to Twitter, but some were obviously triggered by these tweets of "tumult" (yes, I meant to write that). That included one Twitter user, who ended up getting much more than he bargained for after tweeting his premature reaction to the posts.

Pro Tip: Make sure you read something in its entirety or, um, KNOW THE DEFLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE before you react :)

2. A Record at the DBAP

July 4th saw a record turnout at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. A whopping 11,867 fans showed up to celebrate the holiday with the Bulls, breaking a single-game attendance record!  The fans saw a good game, too, as Durham knocked off the Charlotte Knights, 1-0. Fireworks lit up the night sky following the game to cap off a great Fourth.

3. Check Out My Photography!

If you haven't already, make sure to head over to my Photography Portfolio - after reading this post, of course - to see some of the photos I've taken over the past few months and years. I'll be uploading some from Fourth of July festivities at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park soon - including some slow shutter cam/fireworks pics - so I hope you enjoy!

4. Free Streaming on GoHeels.com

UNC Athletics' GoHeels.com website got a very sweet makeover. With that comes a welcomed addition: free streaming of Tar Heel Sports Network (radio) broadcasts! This is a useful tool for those outside of network range of THSN and also nice for those in network range who may find streaming to be easier as opposed to turning a traditional radio dial. There's no doubt that I'm excited for it!

5. Best Film of the Summer?

Baby Driver may just be the best film of the summer. Don't believe me? Check out my review of it for more.
